Critical Legalities Symposium:
Covering the Law: Documenting Justice in Picture, Performance and Press

Various times, HG 1010

This UCI symposium provides an interdisciplinary and international forum to consider the challenges of representing law, lawyers and the justice system. The presentations aim to generate deep discussions about how constructions of law-making and laws’ application both reflect and shape broader understandings of law and justice. Faculty from University of Warwick join participants from the University of California at Irvine, and celebrated documentary filmmaker Kirby Dick, in exploring these issues.

Panelists include Christopher Tomlins (UCI, Law), Justin Richland (UCI, CLS), Matthew Seybold (UCI, English), Paul Raffield (Warwick), Julia Lupton (UCI, English), Victoria Silver (UCI, English), Sam Arkin (UCI, English), Henry Weinstein (UCI, Law/English/LJ); Miles Corwin (UCI, English/LJ); Barry Siegel (UCI, English/LJ), Gary Watt (Warwick), David Pan (UCI, German); Ann Van Sant (UCI, English); Peter Leman (UCI, English); Janelle Reinelt (Warwick).
